10 years post-Obergefell

Love wins. Express Yourself Summit.

Ten years ago today—June 26, 2015—same-sex marriage became the law of the land in the United States.

In a landmark 5–4 decision in Obergefell v. Hodges, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the Constitution guarantees the right to marry for same-sex couples. It was a profound milestone in the fight for LGBTQ+ equality—affirming that love is love, and that dignity, family, and freedom must be protected for all.

It was a day of tears, cheers, and celebrations across the country. The world lit up in rainbow lights. Couples rushed to courthouses to say “I do.” And a new era began—one grounded in justice, inclusion, and hope.

On the first anniversary of Obergefell, American Express published full-page ads in The New York Times to honor the moment—celebrating same-sex couples and launching the #ExpressLove campaign, affirming their commitment to LGBTQ+ communities.

Ten years later, the world is different. LGBT+ VC is here. We’re building the future of wealth, work, and wins for our community—one bold idea at a time.

Today, we’re proud to celebrate our Express Yourself Summit & VIP Lunch, taking place October 9th for Tech Weeks and LGBTQ+ History Month—featuring the AMEX Ventures & American Express case study.

This is a chapter you won’t want to miss.

Happy Pride—and here’s to the next ten years of courage, capital, and happily ever afters.
